Sharing Testimonies

Sharing Testimonies

A guiding principle that we follow is that the greatest way to disciple a child is to immerse them in an atmosphere that is fully charged with faith.

Part of that is story telling.  What has God been doing in our lives?

Younger people – and perhaps all of us – are hungry to hear about what God is doing now.

Sharing testimonies in the service is a great way to engage all of us in faith. Not every testimony is about conversion – but aren’t those stories beautiful and powerful – they can also be about big or little ways that we see God moving and answering prayer.

Consider sharing these true stories with the kids while they are in the worship service.  Here are some tips for creating good God-sighting sharing spaces:

  • Make sure the story is age appropriate
  • Make sure the story isn’t shaming or judgemental of others, or exposing someone else’s sin
  • Make sure the story is simple
  • Make sure the story is short in length
  • Make sure the story points to God and how he is working
  • If appropriate in your context, consider having a time for questions, so people can process and understand everything that was shared

Consider keeping track of these God-stories! What are the ways and patterns that God is moving in your church family?
