Serving
Our churches thrive on volunteer involvement. But why do we limit this to adults? Have you considered involving kids and youth in serving opportunities as well?
Top 5 reasons to have kids and youth on serving teams at your church
- It offers younger people the same opportunity to serve God by serving others.
- It creates moments of mentorship, a valuable way to grow in faith with those who have more experience.
- It develops skills and even leadership in our younger church family members.
- It invests in our younger generations, so they feel valued and loved in our church families. This will help them stay with the church during difficult times or times of transition.
- It’s fun! Share the joy of serving together.
Of course, we need to ensure that kids and youth serving is a winning experience for everyone involved. Please consider:
- Is this age appropriate? For safety, spiritual and emotional maturity?
- Is this entrusting too much responsibility to a young person, or is this right sized?
- Is the time commitment fair for a younger person?
- How can we create milestones of success for the young participant so they can see their growth and development?
