Season of Lent

Season of Lent

lent

We are about to enter the season of Lent. This is a period of time consisting of 40 days of fasting and self-denial that begins six and a half weeks before Easter. Lent officially begins on a day called Ash Wednesday, which falls on March 5 this year. Ash Wednesday gets its name from the practice of receiving a mark of ashes in the form of a cross on your forehead. This mark signifies our own mortality and dependence upon God.  Often people choose to ‘give up’ something in order to focus more on God.

Lent offers a great opportunity for families to be strengthened and encouraged by engaging in some faith building activities as they explore the significance of the lenten season and Easter. We offer this free resource, Journeying Together Through Lent to you and the families in your community.
