Let’s Go to the Sea of Galilee!
We are on a Bible Trek Expedition as we journey back in time to explore what happens in different towns and places where Jesus was.
Our sixth stop is the Sea of Galilee!
Check out when Jesus went to the Sea of Galilee in Matthew 14:22-34.
What is the biggest body of water you have seen? Did you swim there? Have you been in a boat? What was that like?
The Sea of Galilee is where Jesus walks on water to meet his friends in a boat. Have you tried to walk on water? What happens when you try?
Let’s play sink or float! Which things sink in water, and which ones float? Rock. Eraser. Orange with peel still on. Orange without peel on. Marker. A noodle. A fork. Jesus taking a walk.
In Matthew 14:22-34, Jesus had been preaching on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. He walked on the water to the boat. The disciples were frightened when they first saw him. I wonder how you would have felt?
What is it like for you when you feel frightened? What do you do to help yourself not feel frightened? What do you share with Jesus during those times?
Jesus walked on water which for us is impossible. Who is someone in your life who might be in a situation that feels impossible? What can you do to help?
Jesus is/I am: Say it loud! Claim it! Jesus can do amazing things. With Jesus, I can do amazing things!
Peter tries to walk on water with Jesus. For a bit, it works well, then he starts to sink. Would you have tried to walk on the water? What do you think that would be like?
Pray together. Jesus, thank you for showing us that you are God’s Son.
