Pancake Tuesday Family Chat Questions

Watch this fun video about Pancake Day!

What a treat to enjoy time with our families while we indulge in pancakes, syrup, and sweet things!

Jesus teaches us so much about sacrifice on the cross.  We celebrate Shrove Tuesday, having a feast of indulgent food before doing without during Lent.  We journey towards Easter, considering sacrifice in our own lives, while also considering Jesus’ sacrifice.

While you are partaking in your feast, have some fun chatting over these questions.

  • When do you prefer to eat pancakes? Morning? Lunch? Dinner? Snacks? Why?
  • What do you like to put on your pancakes? What do you like to eat with your pancakes?
  • Often, we eat our pancakes with sweet things, like maple syrup or fruit.  What are some sweet things in your life you would like to thank God for?
  • We have treats on Shrove Tuesday because Lent, starting tomorrow on Ash Wednesday, is a time of sacrifice as we prepare for Easter.  What is sacrifice?
  • The greatest number of people to flip pancakes at the same time is 890, in 2012. Inviting Jesus into our lives can flip things around.  What has Jesus flipped in your life?
  • Fun fact: the tallest stack of pancakes was 3 feet 4 inches made from 213 pancakes in 2016 in Rufford, England.  Is that taller than you?
