September 28 – 29 Reignite Pastors and Ministry Leaders Conference

Ministry in a Secular Age. How on earth can the church proclaim the gospel when the world around us does not think of God as essential to life?

Andrew Root will explore this question and more at the virtual conference. We will have a chance to interact with Andrew with input in the morning and in the afternoon we will further discuss the implication of living and ministering in a secular age and how it impacts our ministry, particularly with children and families. Parenting for Faith

This 8 week, video-based course is an excellent resource for equipping parents with tools and skills to parent for faith. In this 8 week session, we will meet on zoom to watch the 30 minute teaching video together and then discuss ways to effectively lead this training in your community with your families. Please note this is geared for ministry leaders that are interested in learning about this training and how to run it in their church. Each session of this eight-week training will be 60 minutes in length and held on zoom on Tuesdays from 1-2pm. Dates include October 11 – November 29, 2022. There is no cost but you must register by September 30 by emailing Tanya Yuen.

SEL Wisdom for Pastors

This highly interactive program has a ten-person capacity and is taught by Margaret Boersma, Creative Education in Action. With each module based on a scripture passage, children’s ministry pastors will learn practical lessons in social-emotional learning (SEL) for themselves as well as brain-based teaching strategies for children. Modules include the following topics:
Module 1 – Managing Stress and a Structure for Support – Philippians 4:6
Module 2 – Engaging the Power of Your Mind – Romans 12:2
Module 3 – Connecting with your Why – Acts 13:36a
Module 4 – De-escalating a Conflict; Calming Someone Down – Ephesians 4:32
Module 5 – Moving On with the Make it Right Formula – Matthew 18:15
Module 6 – Experiencing the Power of Acknowledgement – Hebrews 10:24

Along with the resources related to each module, participants will receive two written SEL units for teaching children on Joseph and Jonah with multiple strategies in each unit.

Each module of this six-week program will be 75 minutes in length and held on zoom on Thursdays 1:00-2:15. Dates include October 13 – Nov. 17, 2022. There is a cost that is being highly subsidized by CBOQ Kids. Please email Tanya for details and application. Due by September 30.
