Gingerbread kits are relatively inexpensive and are available at most grocery stores but some people also make their own gingerbread house from scratch.  We are excited to see how creative you all are. Most of all, we hope you have a fun conversation along with your building!

Conversation Prompts for while you are building your gingerbread house

I wonder, if you could live in a gingerbread house, what would it look like? What candies would you use? What would you use to make your bed? Or your kitchen? Would your fridge be filled with veggies or more candy?

Where was Jesus born? What do you think it was like to be born there?

I wonder why Jesus left heaven to live in a place like this?

How will you make your windows on your house? If you could peek in the window of the stable Jesus was born in, what would you most want to see?

If you lived in a gingerbread house, would you have lots of guests visit? What would you do with them in your gingerbread house? What would you be happy to share? I wonder what would be difficult to share? What is something that Jesus shares with you that you are thankful for?

What homes have you lived in? Jesus was born in a stable, but I wonder where else he lived. Do you think he shared a room with his siblings? I wonder what it would have been like to grow up with Jesus.

Do you find it hard to not eat all the candies as you create your gingerbread house? Do you find it difficult to be patient? Jesus is going to come back, but we don’t know when. What is the first thing you would like to ask Jesus when he returns?

Gingerbread and sweet candies are delicious. Do you like sour candies?  Is there anything sour in your life that you would like to share with Jesus right now? What are some sweet things in your life that you would like to thank God for?
