Adoptive Family Camp was created in recognition of the unique needs that many adoptive or foster families have. Due to the trauma children have experienced Camp Hermosa was looking to create a safe environment that would strengthen the attachment between all members of the family while incorporating their Christian faith and values. Camp Hermosa volunteered to be the host site for this new initiative and valued the opportunity to offer this experience to Adoptive and Foster Families. Adoptive Family Camp is a great opportunity for families to learn, share, gain support and celebrate fostering and adoption with each other. Directors Jaya James and Jennifer Pelissero have developed a program that will bless and strengthen the whole family. There is morning family worship focused on meeting the needs of all ages, afternoon activities for the children led by the camp counselors and an opportunity for parents to benefit from parenting seminars and quiet time. Evenings include camp fires, games, and a reflective worship service overlooking Lake Huron for the whole family.
