Book Review

Ann Voskamp’s newest devotional book offers a soul-stirring 40-day Lenten exploration of John’s Gospel, blending vivid reflections, daily Scripture readings, and striking woodcut art to reframe brokenness as a gateway to resurrection life. Written in her signature lyrical, vulnerable style, this devotional meets readers in their weariness and gently leads them into Christ’s relentless, life-giving love. This devotion book is an immersive encounter with the God who walks our hardest roads and transforms scars into sacred story. For anyone craving fresh spiritual vitality this Lent, Loved to Life will reignite hope through its fusion of raw honesty, artistic beauty, and Gospel truth.

As an early reader, I’ve been captivated by Voskamp’s prose and her ability to make Jesus’ journey feel deeply personal. While I’ve had the privilege of previewing this book and moved through it quickly, I’m eagerly anticipating a slower, more contemplative read during Lent this year, allowing each day’s wisdom to sink in and transform my walk with Christ. One of my favorite verses from John 10:10, where Jesus says, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” is a sentiment that resonates throughout this book, as Voskamp beautifully illustrates how we can step into that invitation to fullness of life.

I highly recommend ordering a copy for your journey through lent this year! Contact Bernice at Read On Bookstore to order your copy.
