The much anticipated sequel to Disney’s 2013 Frozen does not disappoint! It is visually stunning, funny and brings back all the magic of the original as Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff and Sven embark on a journey to an enchanted forest. However this is a much more intense, darker and complicated storyline then the first movie. Younger kids may find some parts scary and difficult. There are fun and catchy new songs, including a solo by Kristoff sure to delight any fan of the 80’s power ballad! There are lots of great conversation starters from this movie, particularly for older kids/tweens/teens, including identity and purpose, grief and loss, and exploitation of Indigenous people.

Throughout the movie, Olaf mentions many things that are confusing to him that he thinks will make more sense when he’s older. Do you ever feel like that? What things do you think will make more sense when you’re older? Why?

Elsa has feelings of not fitting in, that she was responsible for her parent’s death and wonders what her purpose is. What do you think? Why do you think Elsa has those feelings? What does Anna remind her?

When Anna thinks both Olaf and Elsa have died, she loses hope and is very sad. What does she choose to do with her grief?
